Job description

Our client, a renowned Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with an established customer portfolio is currently seeking an Extended Reality (xR) Artist to be based in Vlissingen. Given the military nature of clients and projects, permanent multi-year EU citizenship combined with a permanent EU work visa is strictly required.

The role
Whilst our client's programmers are good at their job, their programmer art is not well developed. This is where you come in. We need a 3D professional (preferably with good knowledge of Blender) with solid 2D skills to help beautify the virtual ships.

As an Extended Reality (xR) Artist you don’t need to start from scratch because our client uses existing 3D CAD models from their engineers. Just optimise the mesh, mangle the UVs, and slap some texture dirt on the models and you’re done. But sometimes the models are not there, and you will have to prove your worth by using only a photograph (or a scribble on a napkin if you are really unlucky) to model a piece of equipment or weapon system

Job requirements

  • MBO level 4 in the field of design, preferably 3D design or game art (Or the same competencies and skills, which have been gained through work experience)
  • Experience with modern 3D content creation tools (Blender, Maya, 3dsMax or C4D)
  • Affinity and experience with hard surface modelling and texturing
  • Experience with modern 2D content creation tools (Affinity Designer, Gimp, Inkscape, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Working knowledge of the English language as some team members don’t speak Dutch
  • Willing to learn Blender and Affinity Designer if necessary
  • Prove your skills by bringing or showing an impressive portfolio
  • Given the military nature of clients and projects, permanent multi-year EU citizenship combined with an EU work visa is strictly required
  • A background check will form a part of the selection process

Our offer

  • Salary depending on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
