Job description

Our client is a Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with customers all over the world. For their office in Vlissingen, we are looking for a Manager Naval Sales Support.

The role
As Manager Naval Sales Support you are accountable for the execution of the company’s sales support strategy in the assigned area or assigned projects. This means maintenance of long-term profitable relationships with (inter)national navy customer(s) and other government/law enforcement customers. You will be accountable for high quality support to the Damen sales organization of all the Defence and Security products & services of the company, and you will build and sustain good relationships between the company and its clients.
As Manager Naval Sales Support you will work in the Sales Support Department and report directly to the Director Naval Sales Support and functionally to the Director Sales and Area Sales Manager
 
Key accountabilities
  • Represent and maintain a naval conceptual and operational knowledge base within Damen Naval and Damen Shipyards Group.
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s sales support strategy.
  • Execute naval and defense & security sales support plans for assigned area(s) that reflects the longer-term company objectives and priorities.
  • Identify and explore (new) business opportunities within assigned areas in close collaboration with the Damen sales organization.
  • Be responsible for a decent sales support administration and execute realistic forecasts for each product & area which includes realistic costs of sales (support) and sales promotion programmes.
  • Liaise between customers and internal Damen cross-functional internal teams under respective Sales manager, to ensure the timely and successful delivery of company products & services.
  • Operate the lead point of contact in the company for all matters to potential and existing international (potential) customer(s).
  • Facilitate proposal processes between potential customers, the sales organization, and the Product & Proposal department.
  • Be responsible for liaising with Marketing and Communication for executing all aspects of internal & external publicity (campaigns) and PR activities in the assigned area(s).
  • Represent the company towards customers and professionals.

Job requirements

  • Master degree in a management and/or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of and experience with (naval) shipbuilding industry and markets. Financial management and sales management.
  • Knowledge of and experience in setting-up & management of government related contracts.
  • Proven track record of success in a senior, preferably operational, position within preferably the Royal Netherlands Navy.
  • Proven record of success in general and/or (technical) management, preferably in a related naval or defense industry.
  • Experience in complex (sales related) positions in the naval or defence market.
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and assertiveness in combination with a well-structured and hands-on mentality.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language both written & verbal.
  • Competences: customer and results orientation, teamwork, behavioural flexibility, quality orientation, entrepreneurship, negotiating, networking, market orientation, planning and organizing and behavioural flexibility.
  • Excellent antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is a standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent multiyear EU citizenship combined with permanent EU work visa are all requirements of the recruitment process for viable candidates, given the military nature of clients and projects.
  • Due to the military nature of the projects, applicants from outside the EU will not be considered
  • A background check will be part of the selection procedure.

Our offer

  • Salary depending on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
