Job description
Oceanwide Marine Services operates with private and chartered expedition vessels and is responsible for the management and operations on board. All voyages have been carefully prepared and developed (routing, regulations, provisioning, crewing, excursions etc.) and are empathic to the natural conditions of the areas concerned and therefore unique in their design. Even though Oceanwide Expeditions was founded in 1996, we look back at 32+ years of experience in expedition cruising with a thorough knowledge of the areas visited. The Dutch Plancius Foundation (1981-1996) was the predecessor of Oceanwide Expeditions. Our tours are constantly modified to guarantee the intended quality of our voyages.
We are looking for a 2nd Officer to sail on our passenger sailing vessel.
As Second Officer you act as navigational officer and are in chare of a navigational watch, you assist in the safe and efficient passenger operations and are responsible for the maintenance of safety equipment.
Job requirements
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Navigational Officer
Experience on board a sailing vessel is a must
Valid Officer in charge of a navigational watch Certificate of Competence and STCW certificates
Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
Experienced in Polar ice navigation is an advantage
Valid Polar Code Advanced certificate of Proficiency
Able to work in multicultural environment
