Job description

Our client is a Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with customers all over the world. For their office in Vlissingen, we are looking for an Autonomy Specialist. Given the military nature of clients and projects, permanent multi-year EU citizenship combined with a permanent EU work visa are all requirements of the recruitment process.

The role
Together with partners in the industry, our client is developing autonomous systems for naval defence applications. The areas of interest are crew reduction by increased autonomy of systems, and secondly the integration with autonomous vehicles (UXV’s) supporting the mothership. You will be the spider in the web for projects focusing on increased autonomous operations. You will be responsible for setting up development projects including experiments aiming at developing technology that will be applied in future products. As an Autonomy Specialist, you will be part of the Autonomous R&D team and be working with national and international high-tech organizations and top research institutes.

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree preferably in naval architecture, mechanical engineering, systems & control or other relevant discipline combined with at least a strong interest in the maritime industry
  • Research interest in the topics of machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, time-series analysis, and control systems
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language (written and verbal) 
  • Given the military nature of clients and projects, permanent multi-year EU citizenship combined with a permanent EU work visa are all requirements of the recruitment process
  • A background check will be part of the selection procedure

Our offer

  • Salary depending on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
