Job description

Our client provides the best engineered heavy lift transport on land and at sea in a safe, efficient and sustainable way. They own and operate an innovative fleet of highly asdaptable heavy transport vessels, and ensure the safe transportation of heavy cargo across the world.

The Role
We are looking for a Transport Engineer / Marine Engineer (permanent position), based at the head office in the Rotterdam area in The Netherlands with occasional travel abroad if and when required.

The Transport Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and the technical execution of the projects related to the Heavy Transport Vessels. It is the challenge to create the requirements of clients into efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Attend project kick-off meetings.
  • Be responsible for the engineering related aspects of projects: execute, monitor, and co-ordinate the work regarding engineering issues with other departments, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Prepare documents for execution of projects (i.e. transport manuals, calculations, task risk analysis, drawings and assist with client interface.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering, quality, and safety standards. Comply with the Code of Conduct and other company policies, QHSSE Standards (Policies, Procedures, and Instructions) and those applicable on the work sites.
  • Prepare materials and equipment specifications.
  • Support the execution of projects on site, if required.
  • Provide input for project evaluations.
  • Work towards achievement of the Company’s environment, health, and safety goals.

Job requirements

  • Bsc in Naval Architecture or other relevant technical education
  • Technical knowledge of lifting / transport calculations, stability / motion analysis and structural calculations.
  • Strong in construction drawing (AutoCad 2D), calculation, detailing and good knowledge of materials and technical requirements.
  • Experienced with rules and regulations for working in a land / marine environment.
  • Experience with proposal works for land and marine projects.
  • Able to perform under tight schedules and deadlines.
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Hands-on, pro-active attitude and service minded.
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Willingness to travel abroad occasionally.
