As an Able Bodied Seaman (AB) on towage vessels, you'll be integral to deck operations, playing an important role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and success of towage operations. Your contributions are vital in upholding our organization's reputation and meeting our clients' expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with navigation and helm duties, operating under the highest safety standards and adhering to maritime regulations specific to towage.
  • Engaging in specialized deck operations necessary for the safe and efficient conduct of towage, including handling tow lines, securing cargo, and maintaining deck gear in optimal condition.
  • Participating in the mooring and unmooring operations at ports, ensuring these are executed swiftly and safely.
  • Conducting regular safety checks and maintenance tasks to ensure all deck equipment is functional and up to the required safety standards.
  • Communicating effectively with the towage vessel’s command structure and collaborating closely with other crew members.
  • Troubleshooting and providing practical solutions for operational and technical challenges encountered during towage assignments.
  • Reporting any abnormalities, incidents, or progress updates to the vessel's Master.

Job requirements

  • Must possess relevant maritime certifications, including STCW, with additional endorsements beneficial for towage vessel operations.
  • Previous experience in an AB role on towage or similar vessels, showcasing a deep understanding of the unique operational demands of towage services.
  • Strong seaman skills, and knowledge of maritime laws, safety standards, and procedures relevant to towage.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, for clear and concise reporting and collaboration.
  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude, ready to address and overcome challenges as they arise.
  • Prepared to respond to emergencies with calmness and decisive action, ensuring the safety of the vessel and crew.
