Job description

Our client is a Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with customers all over the world. For their office in Vlissingen, we are looking for an Automation Engineer.

The role
As Automation Engineer you will be working on a broad variety of tasks in the field Automation and will be involved from the very first (proposal) phase in the project to perform design proposals and calculations. During the execution of the project, you will work in a team of several engineers in order to deliver the requested engineering documents. As Automation Engineer you will implement deep technical and practical knowledge into solid and innovative designs.
 
Key accountabilities
As Automation Engineer, you will:

  • Contribute to the engineering process by developing the required deliverables, such as specification documents, functional descriptions, schematic drawings and test/validation plans.
  • Perform the required technical calculations to prove the design.
  • Participate in design checks and reviews to guarantee the required quality.
  • Perform cost analysis on received offers, in close cooperation with the Purchase department.
  • Ensure full compliance to all applicable requirements and specifications, imposed by Class and the customer.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors to get their timely contribution to the project.
  • Develop and describe standards and working methods.
  • Offer support for producing and submitting proposals to our customers.
  • Offer technical support or commissioning activities to projects under contract.

 

Job requirements

  • Bsc or Msc in Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, Electrical Engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • Experience in the design and installation of complex automation systems preferably in ships, offshore or industrial installations.
  • Experience to work in complex project environments.
  • Dutch and English language skills – German is a plus.
  • Given the military nature of clients and projects, permanent multi-year EU citizenship combined with a permanent EU work visa are all requirements of the recruitment process
  • A background check will be part of the selection procedure

Our offer

  • Salary depending on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
