As a Chief Engineer on a general cargo vessels, you play a vital role in the vessel's functionality and safety. You work closely with the Master on duty. You oversee that the working proces in engine room will be in adherence to safety protocols.
Tasks:
Provide leadership to personnel working in engine room, including 2nd & 3rd Engineers, and potentially a team of engineers/ motorman, oilers on larger vessels.
Supervising the operation, maintenance, and repairs of all machinery and systems.
Planning and executing maintenance and repair work, both scheduled and unscheduled.
Ensuring compliance with international and local maritime regulations and guidelines concerning onboard machinery.
Coordinating fuel consumption, oils, lubricants, and other necessities for the machinery.
Acting as a liaison between the Master and personnel in the engine room.
Job requirements
Mandatory certificates such as STCW and a valid COC Chief Engineer unlimited.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer.
Excellent knowledge of machinery and systems on board general cargo vessels.
In-depth understanding of maritime regulations and safety procedures related to the engine room.
Proficient in English, both verbally and in writing.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to work well within a team.
Capability to perform effectively under pressure and respond to emergencies.
