Job description

Oceanwide Expeditions is specialized in small scale expedition cruises to the otherworldly polar regions. With a fleet of ice-strengthened vessels we offer our passengers unique expeditions to the Antarctic and the Arctic.

Our three-mast schooner Rembrandt van Rijn is cruising in Svalbard and Greenlandic waters with a maximum of 33 passengers and 10 crew.

As Chief Officer you are responsible for the safe an efficient embarking, carriage, and disembarking of passengers and stores, ship security and general operational and cosmetic maintenance. You act as navigation officer and are in charge of a navigational watch. You liaise with Hotel Manager and report to the Master.

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Chief Officer.
  • Experience on board sailing vessels is required.
  • Valid Chief Officer Certificate of Competence and STCW certificates.
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language.
  • Experience in Polar ice navigation and in the possession of Polar Code Advanced training certificate
  • Able to work in multicultural environment.
