Job description

Our client is a company active in the sector of naval architecture and shipbuilding of offshore and specialist vessels. For this client, we are looking for Commissioning Engineers Mechanical or Hydraulics for a vessel modification project to be executed at their Rotterdam site. Our client manages the whole modification, from the design through to the integration of the new equipment. The physical modifications comprise the removal of the existing pipelay system and its replacement with a new J-lay system with a top dynamic capacity of 1,500 tonnes. The J-lay system will be able to handle every variety of pipe including normal flowlines, export lines, and various pipe-in-pipe configurations, ranging in size from 4.5 to 24 inches with wall thicknesses approaching 2 inches. This position is expected to last until the end of the year.

Being the ideal candidate, you have extensive experience within the maritime sector. You are capable of working with various electrical systems and other systems onboard of dredging and offshore vessels. In addition, you are flexible, a hard worker and you can work independently as well as in a team. As a Commissioning Engineer you will be responsible for the commissioning of electrical installations on board. You will ensure that all systems and electrical parts work properly and in case of any issues you will solve them.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for keeping electrical installations running
  • Independent commissioning, testing, and maintenance of the electrical systems on board
  • Adjusting and starting ship installations (checking I/O)
  • Locating and remedying faults
  • Solve problems found during checks and audits
  • Checking the correct documentation
  • Transferring systems to customers and classification societies
  • Communication with other departments and sister companies internationally

Job requirements

  • Vocational education (MBO) Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in commissioning electrical installations in the shipbuilding industry.
  • Knowledge of SCADA
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and understanding of PLCs.
  • Knowledge of ABB drives software is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, preferably Dutch speaking
  • Flexible, no 9 to 5 mentality
  • VCA VOL basic safety certificate (or willing to obtain it)

Our offer

  • Salary range 3500 to 4100 euros gross per month
