Job description

Our client, a renowned Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with an established customer portfolio is currently seeking a Junior Engineer Configuration Management to be based in Vlissingen. Given the military nature of clients and projects, an EU citizenship/valid EU work visa is mandatory.

The role
To ensure that everyone has access to the correct, up-to-date product data in the Product Lifecycle Management system during the entire life cycle of the product. This starts in the proposal phase with the preparation of a correct offer, continuing throughout the development phase with managing the configuration data, and extending into the maintenance phase of the delivered vessel, in such a way that the correct data is available for the instruction manuals and spare parts.

As Engineer Configuration Management you will support the formulation of Configuration Management processes and procedures, to be followed by a project, and subsequent recording in a Configuration Management Plan. You will transfer this knowledge to the project team by means of training and providing functional Configuration Management support. You will build a product structure, including all product information (internal and external), ensure that it is duly administrated in the Product Lifecycle Management system and assure that said information is all released and baselined correctly. Whenever changes are initiated, you will advise on how these should be incorporated into the product configuration.

During the development process, you will have a supervising position. By means of reporting, you follow the compliance to the Configuration Management procedures and status of changes, you will initiate appropriate actions where necessary. By defining audit and verification moments, you will ensure that changes are implemented accordingly and verified. You pro-actively communicate your findings to internal and external stakeholders, as required.

This role includes activities such as (supporting):

  • Setup of the Configuration Management Plan for the project
  • Product structure and master document list setup
  • Validating customer and supplier data and change control
  • Configuring the project data environment in the Product Lifecycle Management system

Job requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering and affinity with Systems Engineering and related technical processes
  • This is an entry-level position open to recent graduates without or with a few years of Engineering working experience
  • You can define and improve processes and document such accordingly, while having a helicopter view, but keeping a keen eye on the key details
  • You are a strong communicator both towards internal and external stakeholders
  • You have technical knowledge for the ability to effectively interpret and report on the status and issues relating to configuration data and change control
  • You are a team player who can interact well within your own team, other teams, colleagues in other business areas and external parties
  • Characteristics: analytical, pragmatic, solution-oriented, assertive, persuasive, service-oriented and enthusiastic
  • Dutch and English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A background check will form a part of the selection process

Our offer

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, km exceeding 10 km € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
