Our client is a large Dutch shipbuilding company, with customers all over the world. We are looking for a Project Manager based in Drachten, The Netherlands for their new division, focused on building cargo vessels and pontoons.
The Role As Project Manager within this new “start-up” division, you will be responsible for the progress, execution and financial results of the shipbuilding projects mainly executed abroad. This includes coordination and monitoring of the progress of engineering activities, and also updating the production- and delivery planning for keeping the clients informed. Currently, new cargo vessels are built in the Far East, as such, you will be required to travel abroad occasionally (estimated 4 times per yr) to visit the project teams at the construction sites.
Responsibilities
Organizing and executing the projects, from acceptance and initiation to delivery
Preparation of the overall project plan, monitoring progress and updating project and production planning in consultation with coordinators and contractors
Liaison with the client on the progress
Leading project team staff to achieve an effective and efficient way of working, compliant with quality standards, and HSE regulations
Providing technical, financial and process evaluations and identifying opportunities for improvement
Job requirements
5+ years of experience in a similar role
BSc degree in Maritime Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant equivalent
Excellent command of the Dutch and English language
40 hours per week, limited possibility of remote working
English and Dutch language skills (written & verbal)
