Job description
The Senior Project Controller will develop, implement, and monitor the financial part of the project planning and the control cycle of the assigned project. You will also advise the project director on finance policies and practices in line with main- and sub-contracts, company guidelines, (project) strategy, plans and external rules and regulations to ensure the realization of financial objectives. You will manage an accurate, up-to-date, and compliant control cycle and you will be responsible for performing financial integrity in the day-to-day project management.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the set up of finance and control policies and procedures for the assigned project (€4.4 billion) and financial department and to ensure its execution in line with companies’ finance strategy and external developments
Ensure the development, preparation, and proper execution of (consolidated) periodical financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external authorities according to defined formats and procedures and (local) legislation
Inform and advise stakeholders on the financial performance within the project and financial department, based on the analysis of financial data of (potential) financial risk areas
Plan and coordinate the (annual) financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting and control cycle within the assigned project
Execute and monitor financial plans, budgets and forecasts as well as ensure the analysis of any gaps between budget and realisation in line with finance strategy and policies
Review and analyse the cash position of the assigned projects and plan the maintenance of adequate funds through cash and other financial forecasts in line with finance strategy and policies
Support the business in the translation of the financial strategy into relevant KPIs, plans and dashboards for the performance of the project
Ensure the identification, analysis, and control of potential financial risks within the project scope
Monitor and ensure compliance of the project with financial guidelines and control financial governance in line with internal standards and external laws and regulations
Liaise with the contract manager, project planner and risk manager to ensure deviations in the contract or changes are correctly processed and followed up
Ensure all financial policies and procedures are in place, understood, owned, maintained, and followed to ensure financial requirements
Job requirements
MBA or MSc in Finance or another relevant discipline
10+ yrs experience in complex financial project management in major capital-intensive industries or division of a large corporation
Experience with complex financial management, preferably in a related naval or defence industry or heavy equipment construction industry
Working experience with BAAINBw and the German Government would be advantageous
Ability to frequently travel and work in Germany (Hamburg & Coblenz) and in The Netherlands (Vlissingen)
German and English communication skills
EU citizenship or EU work visa is strictly required
A background check will be part of the selection procedure
Our offer
Salary: up to € 6500,- gross per month, depending on experience
Annual leave: 27 days per year
ADV hours: 13 days per year with the option to sell these in exchange for a maximum of 5% more salary (0.383% per day)
Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then 0.19 cents per km. A T-tag is issued for employees who use the Westerscheldetunnel for commuting
