Job description

Our client is a Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with customers all over the world. For their office in Vlissingen, we are looking for a Technical Specialist Composite Structures (Project Based).

The role
The Technical Specialist Composite Structures (Project-Based) will support the engineering of large naval composite structures from basic engineering up to production start. You will be responsible for the design and validation of large composite structures, including relevant structural and FEM calculations. Calculation aspects are strength, stiffness, vibrations, buckling, fatigue, blast, EMC, producibility, maintainability, etc. In addition to the in-house performed structural analyses, you will review technical documentation provided by the suppliers such as production engineering documents) and subcontractors (calculation reports and trade-off studies).
 
Key Accountabilities
  • Support in developing building strategies of large composite structures together with composite manufacturers.
  • Support in non-structural aspects of composite naval structures, such as fire safety, EMC, and outfitting.
  • Support the basic and detailed engineering of outsourced engineering packages, design checks and design reviews.
  • Responsible for integration of delivered components and systems into ship design in close cooperation with internal departments, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and customers.
  • Defend technical solutions and communicates these clearly with stakeholders.



 

Job requirements

  • Bsc or Msc degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience and knowledge in the field of Fibre Reinforced Polymers.
  • FEM modelling and analysis software, i.e. ANSYS, NX or FEMAP and CAD systems 3DX or Catia.
  • Fluent English and preferably Dutch language skills
  • Due to the military nature of the projects, applicants from outside the EU will not be considered
  • A background check will be part of the selection procedure

Our offer

  • Salary depending on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
