As Lead Electrical Engineer you will report to the Engineering Manager, guide a small team of electrical engineers, and collaborate closely with the Projects, Maintenance, and Operations teams. You will ensure that electrical systems and equipment are operated, maintained, and configured in a safe, compliant, and optimized manner. Your focus will be on the long-term operability and maintainability of assets, while also driving projects to improve overall performance. The role is primarily based in the office, with visits required to onshore facilities in Noord-Holland and offshore installations in the Dutch North Sea.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Authority – Electrical Discipline
Define performance standards for Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements (SECEs), ensuring compliance and managing deviations.
Specify maintenance requirements for electrical systems and equipment.
Ensure adherence to industry standards and relevant legislation.
Monitor and integrate legislative and standards updates into inspection and maintenance programs.
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of non-routine electrical system issues.
Perform root cause analyses of failures.
Collaborate with the Installatie Verantwoordelijke (IV) to ensure equipment is properly specified, safe to operate, and compliant with regulations.
Maintain the integrity of all electrical documentation.
Engineering Lead
Coordinate the electrical engineering team, prioritizing workload and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.
Manage the discipline budget and contribute to project planning.
Provide technical direction, support, and guidance on modifications, improvements, and new projects.
Oversee installation and commissioning activities, supervising contractors and ensuring quality.
Set engineering design standards, including hazardous area documentation, datasheets, design calculations, and commissioning protocols.
Review and approve internal and external electrical documents and drawings.
Participate in feasibility, FEED, and detailed design studies.
Manage third-party engineering vendors.
Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and procedures.
Job requirements
We are looking for professionals with:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
At least 8 of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with Low/High Voltage systems and ATEX equipment.
Fluency in Dutch and English.
Hands-on field experience diagnosing and resolving electrical equipment issues.
Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
Ability to make technical decisions and justify them to management.
Residency and eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
Willingness to travel offshore or to remote sites as needed.
