Job description

Oceanwide Expeditions is specialized in small scale expedition cruises to the otherworldly polar regions. With a fleet of ice-strengthened vessels we offer our passengers unique expeditions to the Antarctic and the Arctic.

Due to the expansion of our fleet we are searching for a Second Engineer who aspire to a career in these special sailing areas.

As Second Engineer, you are responsible for the management of watch-keeping in the engine room, including ship engineering routines in port or when at anchor. You are also responsible for the organization of all technical maintenance relating to ship’s installation and equipment.

Job requirements

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Second Engineer role, preferably on vessels with conventional engine types. Experience on passenger vessels is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience with conventional engine types
  • Certificate of Competence Second Engineer unlimited
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
  • Hands-on and strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment

  • Fixed rotation schedule +/- 2,5 months on/off
