Job description

Our client is a Dutch shipbuilder of navy vessels, with customers all over the world. For their office in Vlissingen, we are looking for a Senior Cost Estimator.

The role
As Senior Cost Estimator you will prepare estimates for new projects. In this role, you will collect, calculate, and analyse data to estimate project costs and Life Cycle Costs. As Senior Cost Estimator you will also recommend ways to reduce costs and maintain records of estimated and actual costs.
 
Key accountabilities

  • Review offered specifications of budgets in collaboration with the Proposal Engineer and based on project specifications
  • Requesting manhours for the project execution from departments and assessing quotations from suppliers
  • Building a dashboard and setting up a database with key figures, with technical and purchasing information
  • Drafting integral budgets for quotations for new constructions and refit projects, within the set of rules and procedures
  • Identifies missing information and possibilities for cost reduction
  • Analysing actual incurred costs in projects from which key figures can be generated
  • Working with stakeholders to achieve market competitive project pricing including coordinating with the purchasing department and providing support to commercial colleagues by providing expert knowledge in the field of both calculation and shipbuilding developments
  • Contribute to the development of the Products & Proposal department

Job requirements

  • Bachelor degree in naval architecture, mechanical engineering or another relevant technical study
  • Or secondary vocational-technical education with extensive experience in cost estimation
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language written and verbal
  • EU citizenship is strictly required for this position (due to the military nature of the projects)
  • A background check will be part of the selection procedure

Our offer

  • Salary depending on experience
  • Annual leave: 27 days plus 13 days ADV
  • Travel costs: € 10 per month for the first 10 km, then € 0.19 per km
  • Pension benefit: employer 50% and employee 50%
