As Fitter, you carry out repairs or maintenance work as instructed by the Chief Engineer or the Second Engineer. A shipfitter has the responsibility to make sure all the necessary repair work on board a ship is done properly and efficiently. Repair works also include maintaining the basic design and construction of the ship and repairing the ship in such a way that all damage is completely removed.

As a Fitter you are assigned to watchkeeping duties, togheter with the motormen onboard. You will also Assist the Officer of the Watch when assigned to watch-keeping duties at sea or in port, keeping the O.O.W. informed about the tasks and remaining in close contact.

Functie-eisen

• Good command of both spoken and written English;
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
• Hands-on mentality;
• Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as Fitter on board ships required.
