Job description
Oceanwide Expeditions is specialized in small scale expedition cruises to the otherworldly polar regions. As Fitter, you carry out repairs or maintenance work as instructed by the Chief Engineer or the Second Engineer. A shipfitter has the responsibility to make sure all the necessary repair work on board a ship is done properly and efficiently. Repair works also include maintaining the basic design and construction of the ship and repairing the ship in such a way that all damage is completely removed.
As a Fitter you are assigned to watchkeeping duties, togheter with the motormen onboard. You will also Assist the Officer of the Watch when assigned to watch-keeping duties at sea or in port, keeping the O.O.W. informed about the tasks and remaining in close contact.
Job requirements
Good command of both spoken and written English;
Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
Hands-on mentality;
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as Fitter on board ships required.
