Mechanic/Engineer Towage ships

The Mechanical Engineer ensures that the main engines, diesel generators, pumps, compressors, steering gear, hydraulics, galley, deck and electronic equipment onboard the vessel are working correctly. You are responsible for the safe bunkering of fuel and lube oil bunkers, where necessary with fresh water. The Chief Engineer ensures that he and his engineering department have sufficient spare parts and consumables to keep the ship running smoothly. You monitor the maintenance system and ensure that the database is up to date.

You walk through the entire engine room and pay attention to the condition of the equipment and arrange maintenance and cleaning. Every week you check all external areas such as fan rooms, steering gear and bow thruster rooms to identify defects and to carry out maintenance if necessary. In addition, you will ensure that all regulatory paperwork is complete and submitted efficiently. Finally, at the end of your shift/contract, you provide a full written transfer to your principal.
